Businessman remanded for defiling 9-year-old girl
A businessman, Samuel Asiama, 42, was remanded by an Ikeja Magistrates’ court for allegedly defiling a nine-year-old girl.
Mr. Asiama, who is a resident of Isale-Oja, Agege, Lagos was charged with defilement.
He was later ordered to be remanded in kirikiri correctional Centre after his plea was rejected by Magistrate A.O Layinka.
Ms Layinka directed the police to send the case file to the state Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice and adjourned the case until December 1 for DPP legal advice.
The Prosecution Counsel, Lucky Ihiehie, told the court that Mr Asiama committed the offence on August 14 at his residence.
He said that Mr Asiama called the girl into his room and defiled her.
He said the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. This section prescribes life imprisonment for defilement.
