In a dramatic turn of events, ex-Big Brother Naija housemate Gifty Powers has called for the termination of the reality TV show which she tagged as “satanic”.

Gifty, who appeared in the second season of the Big Brother Naija in 2017, said that the show is keeping youths in unhealthy competition with one another.

“Big Brother Naija needs to be shut down entirely. I wish I knew what I know now. Big Brother Naija has kept lives in competition. Big Brother Naija is satanic,” Gifty wrote in a post on her Instagram story.

“Well, you can choose to believe me or not. What I have seen is something my mouth no fit carry. Everyone and their cross. I’ve said my own. The ball is in your court. Bye!

“Please, just in case you start to abuse your generation, know you’re starting with your mother indirectly. Number 1 thing the devil does is to manipulate the weak.”

This is a shocking turnaround as Gifty once said that Big Brother was a dream come true for her:

“I have always dreamed of going into the Big Brother house before now. So, when I heard about the audition, I said to myself this is a great opportunity to hit the limelight. I went for the audition and that was it,” she told the Vanguard in an interview shortly after her eviction from the show.

This also comes a few days after the Arewa Youths Advisory Forum tagged the Big Brother show a “calamity” and called on the Federal Government to ban it.

Big Brother Naija, also known as BBNaija is a Nigerian reality competition television series, based on the Big Brother television franchise, in which, contestants live in an isolated house and compete for a large cash prize and other material prizes that amount to 90m Naira, at the end of the show by avoiding being evicted from the house by viewers who vote for their favourite housemates to remain in the show.
