The Nigerian Railway Corporation has debunked what it termed ‘fake online news’ that the KA4 train from Kaduna to Abuja was attacked this afternoon by armed bandits between Asham and Kubwa.

The Manager of the Abuja- Kaduna Rail Service, Mr. Pascal Nnorli, in a telephone chat with ASPHERICNEWS correspondent said at no point was the train attacked by Gunmen. He noted that hoodlums had hurled stones at the moving locomotive, and in an attempt to apprehend the culprits, the train was stopped at a safe point before Police escorts went after them.

“There was no robbery attack. What actually happened was that some boys threw stones and the damage was much. They scattered the glasses and since the place was safe, they stopped to chase them.

“It’s time we stopped people from damaging Government properties,” Mr Pascal said.

A passenger who was onboard the train also confirmed that there was no armed bandits attack on the train from Kaduna to Abuja.

The passenger who narrated the event said: “I happened to be on the same train. What really happened was on our last approach to Kubwa station some small boys on the bridge threw stones and broke the wind screen on the driver side of the train.

“The train stopped and the Police officers on board the train came out and went after them.”
