COVID-19: Taraba state government discharges all active cases, said no facility was recorded
Taraba state government has said that no fatality case was recorded from the 17 Covid-19 patients it had.
The statement was made by the state Deputy Governor, Haruna Manu on a statewide broadcast, he also added that all the 17 cases previously recorded in the state have fully recovered and are discharged after testing negative twice to the virus.
He, however, noted that the state is still at risk of recording new cases if the present pandemic precautionary measures are flouted and not adhered to by the people in the state.
In his word: “It is important for me to say that even with the present zero active cases of #Covid-19 infection in the state, we cannot say that we are completely free from the risk of the infection.
“We must, therefore, remain undistractedly committed to all the international protocols given for preventing the spread or being infected by the virus by the World Health Organization which have been domesticated to serve our needs and purpose of safeguarding the people in the state.
“That means our people must continue to rigidly wash their hands regularly and wipe it with sanitizers frequently before and after touching any object, maintain social distancing, avoid touching their nose, eyes and mouth after handshakes, avoid handshakes, wear face masks and observe the lockdown orders introduced by the state government.
“These are responsibilities everyone should accept as their own individual contribution to the effort of the government to effectively protect them against the pandemic.
The Deputy Governor also mentioned that the state would remain proactive to ensure that no more cases of Covid-19 reoccur by acquiring more testing facilities to scale up its testing capacity in the state.
He further announced the reopening of worship centers which brought relief to all worshippers in the state, though this decision was made after review of the lockdown rules and regulations which now allows human and vehicular movements Friday to Sunday from 8am to 6pm within these days.
According to him, “the lockdown remains active Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. “Though inter-state movements are still restricted and violators will be severely punished”, he added.
