COVID-19: Niger establishes special isolation centre for almajiri

Niger state government has established special Isolation Centers designed to quarantine Almajirai before they are repatriated to their respective states.

The state Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, stated this on Tuesday, in Minna the State capital, during a briefing on the extension of the ongoing State lockdown for an additional two weeks,  

He said the special Isolation Centers, will also accommodate returnee Almajirai of Niger state origin, for onward distribution to their respective homes across the 25 Local Government areas of the state.

According to him, “The Isolation Centers are well equipped with all the necessary facilities, also there’s full arrangement for three square meals for the period of isolation.

Bello further stated that the exchange programme of the Almajirai is in line with the arrangements of the Northern Nigeria Governors Forum.

The Governor, who announced the banning of commercial motorcycles activities across the State, also maintained that the ban order on night journeys and interstates travels from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am will continue for the next two weeks.

He said, ” We are faced with the challenge of people breaching the lockdown and other measures of COVID-19, such as the commercial motorcycle, Keke Napep operators, among others.

Governor Bello, however pleaded with the people to always report hidden cases of #COVID-19 in their areas.
