A court in Cardiff, Wales has sentenced a 33-year-old Mohammed Ahmed to 20 months imprisonment for strangling his ex-lover and threatening to kill her, 11 years after the duo had separated. Ahmed would not accept his relationship with his former partner was over and continued to harass her despite her pleas for him to stop. According to the case head in court, the relationship came to an end in 2011 and Ahmed was arrested in 2012 for harassment but continued to breach his bail and entered his victim’s home and strangled her.

The prosecutor, Gareth James said: “The defendant pinned her down on the sofa whilst laughing and grabbed her around her throat and squeezed so tight she could not breathe. She felt scared and felt she was fighting for her life. “He then slapped her across the face twice with forceful blows and said: ‘If I see you with another man I’ll kill you. “She told him to leave and he said ‘If you phone the police I’ll batter you, I’ll headbutt you and kill you”.

According to Wales Online, before being sentenced, Ahmed was arrested and released on bail but he continued to call her and sent her texts that read, “If you don’t come to meet me soon I am coming to you.”
