It will come as a shock to Twitter users, as the Federal Government has indefinitely suspended the operations of the microblogging and social networking service, Twitter, in Nigeria.
This comes after the Federal government accused the microblogging site of not been fair in its dealings. And also reports of the site deleting President Buhari’s tweet wherein he spoke about the civil war experience.
Alhaji Lai Mohammed the Minister of Information and Culture, made the announcement of the suspension in a statement that he issued in Abuja on Friday, citing the persistent use of the platform for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence.
The Minister said the Federal Government has also directed the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to immediately commence the process of licensing all OTT and social media operations in Nigeria.
