Idi-Iroko in the Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State has experienced tension as some Yoruba Nation agitators thronged the area in an attempt to open the land border.
Their attempts were repelled by, operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service who were manning the border areas.
Since 2019 the land border had been closed by the Federal Government when directives came that all forms of importation be done through the seaports.
The reports gotten from the Daily Trust said that on Saturday agitators invaded the border community and forced open all the gates at the international frontier.
There is a viral video making rounds on social media that showed a gun being snatched from an Immigration officer.
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Customs Service Ogun 1 Area Command, Hammed Oloyede confirmed the incident.
This is the first time the agitators have acted violently.
