Benue State Police Commissioner, Audu Madaki, says the command has arrested two hundred and five suspects who have been terrorizing the state within the month of February 2021 till date.
The suspects were arrested for related crime offences such as kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism and mischief by fire arms among others in various parts of the state.
Parading some of the suspects, the state police commissioner, says the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded, while calling on the public to avail security agencies useful information to nip crime in the bud.
Some of the suspects arrested and paraded before newsmen at the command headquarter’s confessed to their crimes. One of them, a herder, Usman Lawal was arrested for allegedly kidnapping his victim in Ado with his accomplices while the other who confessed to the crime was arrested for armed robbery and raping an elderly woman at gun point in Guma LGA. The other a farmer was also arrested with army uniform they all expressed regret for their actions.
The police commissioner who told media men of the command efforts in tackling crime and criminality, said measures have been taken taken to continue to sensitize the pubic through various town halls, and meetings with stakeholders.
Items recovered from the suspects were thirty two rifles of different caliber, Six AK 47, one G3, three double barrel gun, twenty two locally made pistol , Seven hundred twenty six live ammunition and twenty seven live cartridges.
