Barely 24 hours after her abduction, University of Jos Professor, Grace Ayanbimpe of the has been rescued.

Professor Grace, a lecturer with the Department of Medical Microbiology in the University of Jos was released alongside her husband.

The professor and her husband were kidnapped by gunmen in the early hours of Monday at their home located behind Haske quarters, Lamingo in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

An eyewitness, Dachung said: “The kidnappers came to their house around 2am. They broke into their apartment and shot into the air. Neighbors who were terrified by sounds of gunshots could not come out for the fear of being hit by stray bullets.

“So, this morning, we discovered that the gunmen had taken the professor and her husband away. We don’t know where they are right now.”

It was later discovered that the gunmen made contact with the family, demanding a N15 million ransom shortly after their abduction.

However, there has been no confirmation if the ransom was paid to facilitate their release or not.
