Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced that the Tech giant will be acquiring speech recognition company and AI giants Nuance communications in a whopping $16 billion deal.
This deal, originally worth about $19 billion including the debt component is said to come at a time when Microsoft is reportedly making plans to purchase chat application Discord at a sum of $10 billion.
News of these acquisitions come just a month after Microsoft had completed its $7.6 billion purchase of gaming company Zenimax. The American based video game outfit is the parent company of Bethesda Softworks and its eight studios.
The acquisition of Nuance Communications would mark the biggest acquisition by the Tech giant since its $26 billion purchase of professional social media platform, Linkedin in 2016.
In an announcement on Twitter Nadella said that the partnership between Microsoft and Nuance Communications will place AI solutions into the hands of professionals to aid improved decision-making and build meaningful connections.
