Coronavirus: U.S. government to give each citizen $1,000

The United States government is considering a plan to issue cheques of $1,000 to individual Americans, to help them weather the crisis caused by the outbreak of the Coronavirus. According to the U.S. Treasury Secretary, Steven Mnuchin, high income earners might not qualify for payments, which could be sent within the next two weeks. The $1,000 cash assistance for Americans is part of the $1 trillion stimulus package, which will include $50 billion for airlines facing bankruptcy.

The U.S. Vice President, Mike Pence, has also announced U.S. government directives, instructing U.S. military to establish field hospitals in virus hot zones. Since Covid19 breakout in the United States, 100 persons have died, and more than 2,000 people have been infected.

States in the U.S. have also made moves to cushion the effect of the outbreak on their citizenry. The Washington State Governor Jay Inslee has signed a legislation approving $200 million for homeless. California’s governor signed off on $1 billion, and Georgia’s governor approved $100 million.
