Sudan’s Prime Minister, Abdalla Hamdok has survived an assassination attempt after a blast occurred near his convoy in the Nation’s capital, Khartoum. According to Reuters, the attack happened as the prime minister was heading to his office. The blast damaged cars belonging to the Prime Minister’s convoy, but no casualty has been recorded.

Following the attack, Hamdok took to twitter to say: “What happened will not stop the path of change; it will be nothing but an additional push in the strong waves of the revolution.”

Hamdok became prime minister in August; months after a pro-democracy movement forced the army to remove President Bashar al-Bashir, who had been in Office from 1989 to 2019.
