FG Inaugurate NDDC Monitoring Committee

President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday has inaugurated the Monitoring Committee for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to oversee the forensic audit of the commission.

Earlier, the President had ordered a forensic audit of the books and activities of the interventionist agency last year and had followed the order with the constitution of an Interim Management Committee (IMC).

He also suspended the inauguration of a substantive board for the commission, charging the IMC with the responsibility of overseeing the forensic audit through.

In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, he noted that the president has approved the composition of the Monitoring Committee.

“In line with the provisions of Part V1, Section 21 of Niger Delta Development Commission Establishment Act, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the composition of a Monitoring Committee for the commission”

However, the new Monitoring Committee, is to be chaired by the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

The Committee is believed to be complimentary in the task of safeguarding the integrity of the forensic audit.

“Members of the committee are, Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, Chairman, Minister of State, Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Omotayo Alasoadura, Member, and Olusola Adesola, Permanent Secretary,Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Member.

“Other members are; Mr Shamsuddin Bello, representing office of the Accountant General of the Federation, Mr Charles Ikeah, representative of the Federal Ministry of Environment, Atanda Kolawole Musiliu, representing Ministry of Petroleum Resources, and Ms. Aisha Umar, representing Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning.

Others are Dr M.K Mohammed, representing Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Dr Dorothy Nwodo, representing the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, while Mr Alfred Abah, a Director in the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, is Member/Secretary.
