Protest rocked the House of Representatives on Thursday, after a bill seeking to establish a polytechnic in the Orogun in Delta State, was passed for second reading. Pandemonium set in when Nicholas Ossai, representing Ndokwa/Ukwani Federal Constituency protested the bill.

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ahmed Wase, who presided over the plenary, ruled Nicholas Ossai out of order and the House passed the bill a second reading.

In February, Nicholas Ossai, had protested the first reading of the bill titled ‘Federal Polytechnic, Orogun, Delta State (Establishment) Bill, 2020 (HB.642),’ sponsored by the Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege from Delta state, passed by the Senate and transmitted to the House for concurrence. Nicholas Ossai had claimed that the bill plagiarized his own bill titled ‘Federal Polytechnic, Kwale (Establishment) Bill, 2018.’
