“Since Abuja is the nation’s capital, there was need to have a presence here so as to be able to easily coordinate “our programs with relevant government agencies and ministries.”

“If you look at the history of the institute, it started as a railway college, so we have been part of the railway system ever since. At the moment, we are updating our facilities in Zaria, to provide for trainings on modern systems”.

“The thing is, the transport technology knowledge is still relatively new and as an institute, we provide training for people who are already employed in the industry. So they can have professional training. Most of them are already working somewhere and wish to improve themselves.”

“The Federal ministry of transportation under Hon. Rotimi Amaechi has been giving us all the support we need, and all the achievement we are talking about wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the ministry, anytime we have any challenges, the ministry is there to support us to achieve our mandate.”

On the office complex which is still under construction, Dr. Farah said he was proud of the work done so far and expressed optimism that the project will be completed and the office ready for use latest by March, 2020.

“Yes, I’m happy with the level of work done so far. Last time, I visited here, it was not at this stage, the contractors have done a lot of work and I am happy about it”.

“What remains are the fittings we are planning to complete in a period of not more than one month, we are looking at early march 2020 for the completion. I am so pleased because in the next one month, I will start operations in this facility once the minor things have been put in place, “Dr Farah enthused.

The DG implored interested Nigerians to apply for the programmes through its website, www.nitt.gov.ng
